Huron Valley Community Theater is proud to announce the opening of their 2012-2013 season with Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Tony Award winning The Sound of Music Friday, June 22-Sunday, June 24 at Lakeland High School's Center for Performing Arts.

The Sound of Music is the beloved story of Maria, who proves too high-spirited for the religious life and is dispatched to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain. Her growing rapport with the youngsters, coupled with her generosity of spirit, gradually captures the heart of the stern Captain, and they marry. Upon returning from their honeymoon they discover that Austria has been invaded by the Nazis, who demand the Captain's immediate service in their navy. The family's narrow escape over the mountains to Switzerland on the eve of World War II provides one of the most thrilling and inspirational finales ever presented in the theatre (www.rnh.com).

HVCT’s production of The Sound of Music will be directed by Jason Pratt and produced by Karen Nave and Jessie Pratt. All three are Milford High School graduates and have been involved in theater and production for over 50 combined years and are active members of the Oakland and Livingston County communities.
